WFAN: Why Knicks Future Looks Brighter After Trading Porzingis (2/2/19)

The Knicks shocked a lot of people when they abruptly traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks along with Courtney Lee, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. In return, they got Dennis Smith Jr., the expiring contracts of DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews, along with two future first-round draft picks. At first, Knicks fans were furious.

As more info came out that Porzingis didn’t wanna be with the Knicks in the future…mixed in with a senseless tweet of a GIF dapping up Luka Doncic, the fan base took a turn on the deal. They also realized that it gives them the opportunity now to sign two max free agents this summer. I explained in my column why the trade actually sets the Knicks up for a hopeful future…if they can make a few splashes in the summer.

WFAN: Why The Knicks Should Keep Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah still has two years left on his contract and a boatload of money. Many say the Knicks should eat the contract and cut him, but I disagree. Check out my latest WFAN column on why the Knicks should keep Noah and play him next season.

I had the chance to speak with Knicks legend and NBA Hall of Famer Earl ‘The Pearl’ Monroe just minutes after the Knicks took Kevin Knox in the NBA Draft. We spoke about the pick, the Knicks future, LeBron James, and him still being part of the greatest backcourt ever. Monroe was speaking on a panel at a charity event benefiting the NBA Retired Players Association and their initiatives to children in West Africa. I also spoke with former Knicks Len Elmore and Tom Hoover.

Episode 39: The Jake Brown Show – Knicks Rant, MLB ASG, NBA Free Agency

This week on the podcast:

I rant on the New York Knicks front office debacle as their search for a GM continues. The team couldn’t agree on a role for David Griffin, who just took the Cavaliers to three straight NBA Finals, with a ring in between them. With the MLB All Star break here, I discuss the All Star Game losing its luster. Who will win the Home Run Derby? Also, I wrap up the show with grades for each team in the first half. I also talk NBA free agency and the insane amount of money going around. Also, the Brooklyn Nets future looks bright thanks to the work done by GM Sean Marks.
